Recep is a despot. Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a War Criminal. And he's someone who the bulk of the media gives a pass year after year. He threatens a refugee camp earlier this week and most of the press coverage uses the term "warns," not "threatens." Now the thug has done what he threatened. AFP reports, "Three civilians were killed Saturday in a Turkish drone attack on a refugee camp in northern Iraq in an area which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently threatened to 'clean up'."
REUTERS was among the outlets refusing to call a threat a threat and instead went with "warns." They're still using that wording after today's attack:
The strike on the camp housing thousands of Kurdish refugees from Turkey took place three days after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan warned Iraq that Turkey would "clean up" a refugee camp which it says provides a haven for Kurdish militants.
Why is no one noting the United Nations or its connection to the camp? WION is about the only outlet that carries that fact "the UN-supported camp that houses Kurdish refugees from Turkey." AHVAL also notes, "The camp is administered by the United Nations and home to 12,000 Kurdish refugees from Turkey."
Outlets are happy to run with any claim Recep makes and present it as fact but, when it comes to covering actual facts, they're not so good, are they?
Rashad Galali, a Kurdish MP from Makhmur, told AFP the strike targeted "a kindergarten near a school" in the UN-supported camp that houses Kurdish refugees from Turkey.
"Three civilians were killed and two wounded," he said.
These are terrorists? Do they learn bomb making in pre-K?
It's past time the world stopped looking the other way with regards to Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
