    But what I'm saying is the number of infected is unknown because most are asymptomatic or no serious symptoms, no visit to doctor, no lab tests.

    That 2% rate is low because it’s based on all infected, even those newly infected that day when their outcome is unknown. When it’s all over I bet the rate will be 4-5%.

    I do wonder about the -- because CDC says 80% of cases are so mild they may even be asymptomatic. So one would think that we are unaware of most of the cases. Do those factor into the stated death rate (would seem to lessen it)?

    Throughout the outbreak, the death rate for 2019-nCoV has been about 2%. So far this flu season, about 0.05% of people who caught the flu have died from the virus in the U.S., according to CDC data.
