Greg Pence Gold Star Family Legislation Included in Final NDAA Package
Washington D.C. - U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (IN-06) announced today his legislation, the OORAH Act, is included in the final National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020. The NDAA conference report will pass through the House and the Senate before being sent to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

Pence, a United States Marine Corps and Beirut Veteran, introduced the OORAH Act in May to help Gold Star Families reach justice for the 1983 Marine Barracks terrorist attackThe OORAH Act allows the Gold Star Families of that attack to access $1.68 billion in frozen Iranian funds. Pence's bill passed the House with bipartisan support as an amendment to H.R. 3494 in July, and is now included in the NDAA for FY2020.

"I was lucky, my battalion shipped out just days before the 1983 bombing in Beirut. I was able to come home to my wife, who was expecting our first child, and my family in Columbus," said Congressman Pence. "I told myself I would never forget the brave Marines who died in that terrorist attack, and this is part of that commitment.

“I look forward to seeing my legislation in the NDAA move through the House and on to the Senate a final time, bringing it one step closer to the President’s desk. Soon we will hold accountable the terrorists responsibleand those who funded them, for the murder of 241 patriots and provide a sliver of justice for the families they left behind. As a Beirut Veteran, I understand that Our First Duty is to Remember. I remember, and remain Always Faithful. Semper Fi.”

A summary of the conference report, to be passed through Congress and signed into law by President Trump, is available here
