NDAA Passes House, Pence’s Gold Star Family Bill Heads to SenateOORAH Act Included in Final NDAA Package, Heads to Senate for Final Passage Before Being Signed into Law by President Trump
Washington D.C. - U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (IN-06) released the following statement after the NDAA passed the House today and moved on to the Senate for final passage through Congress. Once the Senate passes the NDAA, it heads to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
“The passage of the NDAA in the House is a victory for our men and women in uniform. I am proud and honored my OORAH bill was included, and I am grateful we are one step closer to the President’s desk, and one step closer to helping our Gold Star Families,” said Congressman Pence. “I applaud President Trump’s work to fight for this legislation and his support of our military, and I look forward to seeing the NDAA pass in the Senate soon.”
Pence, a United States Marine Corps and Beirut Veteran, introduced the OORAH Act in May to help Gold Star Families reach justice for the 1983 Marine Barracks terrorist attack. The OORAH Act allows the Gold Star Families of that attack to access $1.68 billion in frozen Iranian funds. Pence's bill passed the House with bipartisan support as an amendment to H.R. 3494 in July, and is now included in the NDAA for FY2020.
