I told the NY Times that “my principles don’t change with the job I’m in” and I think that’s proven to be true over the last 20 yrs. It hasn’t been a perfect career — but I’ve tried hard to live my values. Thanks to everyone for the support. Onward.
  • I'm old enough to remember critics of the Iraq War being labeled unpatriotic and seditious traitors, and almost nobody in the media criticizing the toxic tone of that invective.
  • I wish there had been as much critical media coverage of a climate crisis that threatens all life on the planet as there is critical media coverage of the tone of tweets.
  • I wish there had been as much critical media coverage of efforts to slash Social Security for millions of people as there is critical media coverage of the tone of tweets.
  • I wish there had been as much critical media coverage of the ripoff schemes that destroyed millions of Americans in the financial crisis as there is critical media coverage of the tone of tweets.
  • I wish there had been as much critical media coverage of the toxic lies that led America into the Iraq War as there is critical media coverage of the tone of tweets.

This congealing narrative that Bloomberg is the only person who can defeat Trump is one of the biggest lies ever told. Not a single poll supports this. Pundits and the Bloomberg camp are pushing this crap…
  • Michael Bloomberg co-chaired a group pushing for Social Security cuts, and published an oped declaring "entitlement cuts being discussed are both less than what I and many others believe are necessary”

  • In general, tweets are not worse than supporting/voting for the Bush/Cheney resolution that authorized the Iraq War, which killed hundreds of thousands of human beings.
  • Many in media & on this website are angrier at the tone of tweets than they are at politicians who supported: - the Iraq War - stop-and-frisk policies that terrorized communities of color - the fossil fuel industry that's fueling a climate crisis threatening all life on Earth
  • I think it's interesting that lots of people in the media and on this website are far more appalled by the tone of some tweets than they are at politicians who cheered on the Iraq War that killed hundreds of thousands of human beings.
  • Things Bernie didn't do: - Support the Iraq War - Speak at the GOP convention & endorse George Bush - Defend Wall St execs after the financial crisis - Try to cut Social Security - Oppose minimum wage increases Things Michael Bloomberg did: - All of the above

  • Side note: I suspect this is a feature not a bug
  • Every time I turn on cable TV I feel like I’m watching old clips from a 2005 time capsule. Save for a few exceptions, there are almost no voices on TV who have longtime experience working in & reflecting the progressive movement thats changing the Dem Party & American politics.
