I told the NY Times that “my principles don’t change with the job I’m in” and I think that’s proven to be true over the last 20 yrs. It hasn’t been a perfect career — but I’ve tried hard to live my values. Thanks to everyone for the support. Onward.

I guess that when you’re a powerful billionaire, you’re not used to — and you certainly don’t like — people holding you accountable for your record.
  • This move by Mike Bloomberg can be best understood as the enraged temper tantrum of a billionaire who has up until now been able to buy everything he wants — but who is now worried he may not be able to buy the presidency, and so he’s lashing out in an effort to silence critics.
  • I won't be intimidated. won't be intimidated. won't be intimidated. No matter how much cash spends to vilify us, the movement will not be intimidated. We will continue to be civil in our criticism - and we will not be silenced.
  • This is a very clear effort by Bloomberg to intimidate people and silence criticism of his record. It's not going to work.
  • It's clear what the strategy is here: is a longtime pal of Trump & has pushed right-wing policies. This move by Bloomberg is designed to send a message: he's saying to everyone that he'll use his billions to personally vilify anyone who dares criticize his record.
  • If you're fact checking, heres a press release on Bloomberg's website describing as a "part-time Bermuda resident": Also, The Guardian: "Bermuda is the world’s worst corporate tax haven, according to a list by Oxfam"

Today in Richmond, CA, on :
  • The people who nebulously accuse me of being “toxic” — without offering substantiation of that claim — are often the very same people who routinely did/do this. 👇🏻
  • Examples of “toxic” rhetoric: - Lying America into a war that killed hundreds of thousands of people - Depicting war opponents as unpatriotic traitors - Blaming the financial crisis on poor people - Slandering a multiracial, multigenerational working class movement as “bros”
  • It’s odd that some folks in media & on this website genuinely believe they should be able to promote factually wrong & slanderous claims about Bernie Sanders, and further, that they’re entitled to not have anyone criticize or debunk their claims in a civil, dispassionate way.
  • In the lead up to the financial crisis, vetoed legislation to crack down on predatory lending. During & after the crisis, he defended bankers & deployed law enforcement to stop-and-frisk communities of color that were harmed by the crisis

"Bloomberg Apologized for Stop-and-Frisk. Why Won’t He Say Sorry to Muslims for Spying on Them?" - my latest piece for on an under-reported, Islamophobic angle to Michael Bloomberg's awful civil liberties and policing record in New York:
  • "Developers hoping to get tax breaks for building affordable housing in or near luxury buildings can no longer install a 'poor door' to separate low-income tenants...The 'poor doors' were previously allowed under a program created by Mayor Bloomberg"
  • Michael Bloomberg suddenly criticizes toxicity in our politics. Also, Michael Bloomberg "criticizes minimum-wage laws and defends the practice of fingerprinting food-stamp recipients, which he enforced during his time in office."
  • h/t to , the deputy campaign manager who does double duty as a great photographer -- follow his photos here:
  • Last night here in Denver, my kids saw the next president of the United States. Was pretty cool.
  • One day after 11,000+ came out to the Bernie rally in Denver 👇
  • The Denver Post runs a regular column by the chair of the "State & Local Legislation & Policy Group" at Colorado's biggest corporate lobby firm. The newspaper doesn't explicitly disclose that, nor does it disclose the guy's clients that he may be shilling for in his column.
  • This is an embarrassment on every level -- the Denver Post & its oped editor are helping promote & launder a major oil/gas law firm & corporate lobby firm's political attacks on , whose agenda threatens the financial interests of the firm's clients.

“Nominating Bloomberg would be a disaster for public schools and for Democrats’ chances at beating Trump. Because when it comes to education policy, it is virtually impossible to tell the two billionaire politicians apart.”
  • I love that rich, out-of-touch Republican consultants in faraway Washington, D.C. convinced themselves that this is truly a devastating attack here in Colorado (hint: it isn't devastating -- it's the opposite)

this headline is doing a lot of projecting. bernie voted against the war, and, as the story notes, led the opposition to it. others, like senate foreign relations committee chair joe biden, voted for it and vocally supported the bush wh. not complicated.
  • Mike Bloomberg is decrying toxicity in our politics. Mike Bloomberg also created a stop-and-frisk policy that targeted people of color, pushed to cut Social Security, fought against raising the minimum wage & vetoed a living law in the most economically unequal city in America.

Bernie Sanders directly attacked Mike Bloomberg for attempting to "buy the presidency" at a campaign rally in Nevada. "Well, I got news for Mr. Bloomberg, and that is the American people are sick and tired of billionaires buying elections."
