Suadad al-Salhy

Suadad al-Salhy has reported with THE NEW YORK TIMES, ALJAZEERA, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS and REUTERS.  She is an internationally recognized journalist and she's being targeted by the Iraqi government as we noted last night.  Rebecca covered the issue in "hey, ned parker, how about a tweet for sudad al-salhy."  More people are noting the threats against her.

Michael Cashman Tweets:

We must not allow this to disappear in the shadows – this journalists life is at threat. Please retweet. Arrest warrant issued for MEE journalist Suadad al-Salhy in Iraq

Joan Keating-Majorel Tweets:

Shameful! Arrest warrant issued for MEE journalist Suadad al-Salhy in Iraq

Jan Keulen Tweets:

Arrest warrant issued for prominent journalist Suadad al-Salhy. In #Iraq journalists risk their lives when they cover protests or investigate corruption. #PressFreedom

AVA TODAY Tweets:

RSF urges Iraq not to arrest journalist for writing about Islamic Republic's supreme leader Reporters Without Borders (RSF) calls on the Iraqi authorities not to arrest Suadad Al-Salhy, a Baghdad-based reporter for the Middle East Eye news website. avatoday.net/node/12015

More people are noting the issue, not enough though and, sadly, I'm not seeing any of the reporters who shared a byline with her rushing out a statement or even a Tweet.  The world is watching the Iraqi government but, pay attention, we're also watching to see which of her colleagues -- if any -- bother to stick up for Suadad.

Kat's "Kat's Korner: Tramps like me, baby, we were born to bitch" went up earlier today as did Isaiah's THE WORLD TODAY JUST NUTS "The Calm Deliberation of Hysterical Stelter" and Isaiah has another comic going up after this.
