TALKING BOOKS & MUSIC, HOLIDAY STYLE!

On the Record Store Day Podcast, host Paul Myers talks with the people making the records (and writing the books!) everyone is talking about. The last two episodes of 2023 just happen to cover two of our favorite topics, especially around the holidays: BOOKS and MUSIC!

Listen as Paul chats with Ben Greenman about the ups and downs of helping the legend Sly Stone tell his own story, talks with Chris Molanphy about why Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" is so much more than a simple pop phenomenon, and learns from journalist Joel Selvin how Down Home Music tells the story of Arhoolie Records through the camera lens of his co-author, the late Arhoolie founder Chris Strachwitz, who traveled the American rural south to curate the music that inspired a generation.

Then crack open another little book, THIS IS CHRISTMAS, SONG BY SONG: a little gem of a collection that goes into the history of 100 of the world's most popular (and most polarizing) Christmas songs. Author Annie Zaleski dives deep into the holiday jukebox with Paul Myers as they spend some time by the fictional fireplace discussing hippos, hip-hop and the seasonal soundscape.

All these books make excellent gifts or an excellent way to spend some holiday down time.
