Funding Barack's Illegal Wars

"I see no reason to be keeping our troops in Iraq that much longer and to start into Afghanistan when there's no end in sight," Woolsey said Monday. "If we were voting on funds to bring our troops home from Iraq, I'd vote for it in a minute. ... I just hope we're not repeating the mistake we made in Iraq."
Pelosi has been struggling for weeks to get to the 218 votes out of 256 House Democrats needed to pass the war bill, while the White House has threatened to pull support from Democratic freshmen who vote no.
Brendan Daly, a Pelosi spokesman, acknowledged that she is pressuring her members to vote for the bill and that it is set to go forward today "assuming we have the votes."

The above is from Carolyn Lochhead's "Pelosi puts pressure on Dems to OK was funding" (San Francisco Chronicle) and what an embarrassing moment to be an OpenPretendLeft blogger if you've called Lynn Woolsey a liar. But of course Piss Ant Bloggers like that never admit they were wrong, they just go on whoring for Barack. And Cowards Online all stay silent or minimize what their 'studly' Chris did instead of calling his lying ass out. There's truth and there's suck up and it's so much easier for Cowards Online to play suck up and forget truth while insisting that they have morals and that the problem with Real Media is (a) no morals and (b) they cover the wagons. The whole thing recalls when that site's patron saint launched his attack on Tina Richards and so many stayed silent. Tina had stood up for her son and for all Iraq War veterans but it was time to spin and make Dems who sell out look good so it was attack Tina. That site has a really strong desire to attack women over, especially women who tell the truth like Tina and Lynn Woolsey.

Today the vote is expected on Funding Barack's Illegal Wars. You can be sure some will spend the day pretending to give a damn about Iraq (and telling themselves that they can pretend for at least eight hours and then return to gas bagging about what really interests them, the 2010 Congressional races) just long enough to offer lies about how Barack's groovy and therefore everything he does is groovy and so, if he wants to fund illegal wars, that's groovy too.

Look for OpenPretendLeft to spend the day making like Toni and Carole, "Anytime you want to . . . You can turn me on to . . . Anything you want to . . ."

There is a chance the War Supplemental could go down in flames. If enough Dems and Republicans say "no," it won't pass. Walter Alarkon (The Hill) reports that the Republican plan in the House is "to vot en bloc against the $106 billion war-spending bill".

Reminder, Iraq Veterans Against the War has been requesting people call their Congress members and demand a No vote on the War Supplemental:

In mid May, we asked you to take action by contacting your legislators about the supplemental funding bill that would continue the U.S. occupation in Iraq and escalate our presence in Afghanistan. Well, since then, there have been some interesting developments, and we may have a real opportunity to defeat this funding.
Republicans who previously voted for the earlier version of the bill do not want to give the IMF funds to bail out international banks or the economies of developing countries that have been affected by the global economic crisis. And progressive Democrats do not want to support money for the IMF due to its lack of transparency and its track-record of offering small nations economic bailouts with high interest rates and other nasty strings attached. Both sides have pledged to vote "NO" on the current version of the bill that now includes the IMF funding.
This vote is expected to go to the House of Representatives TODAY. Please
contact your member of the House today and tell them to vote "NO" on the Supplemental Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2009 (H.R. 2346).

Monday the Defense Department issued the following:

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Edmond L. Lo, 23, of Salem, N.H., died June 13 in Samarra City, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device that his explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team was acting to neutralize detonated. He was assigned to the 797th Ordnance Company, 79th Ordnance Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.
For further information the media may contact the Fort Hood public affairs office at (254) 287-9993; after hours (254) 291-2591.

Mark Hayward (New Hampshire Union Leader) reports Lo attended Salem High school and was a member of the 2004 graduating class, had five siblings, was on his second deployment in Iraq and quotes his mother Rosa Lo stating, "I told him to be careful and he said 'I know, I know. I didn't worry that much because he was smart. I thought he knew how to handle it." James A. Kimble (Eagle-Tribune) quotes Salem High School Superintendent stating, "He impress me as a young with quiet confidence. He was kind, he was incredibly respectful. He was what you would want your own son to be like."

In legal news, Melody McDonald (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) reports the arrest of Daniel Earl Nelson XI who is with the Army National Guardsman. While on leave from Iraq, Nelson is accuesed of shooting a 19-year-old dead "at a house in Jacksboro, a small town about 60 miles northwest of Fort Worth."
