The first day of Eid al-Fitr

Today is the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

Abadi will not accept congratulations and calls on Iraqis to visit families of ISF and Hashed martyrs

In addition, Haider al-Abadi marked the occasion, Iraqi Spring MC notes, by bombing areas of Falluja as civilians gathered for prayer.

Rudaw reports, "Another 11 people – including women and children – have been killed by random Iraqi airstrikes in the city of Fallujah, said a top health official of the key city that Baghdad is fighting to retake from the Islamic State group."  Dr. Ahmad Shami notes that Falluja is "short of medicines, doctors and nurses."

Despite this and other incidents, Iraq's propaganda ministry insists that there has been no harm to civilians throughout this week of assaults on Anbar.

While Haider chose to note the day with bombings, Alsumaria reports that Iraqi Vice President Ayad Allawi just sent a warm, public greeting.

Abadi is also celebrating by visiting Anbar, hopeful that this visit will garner him some international publicity unlike his visit earlier this week.
