We don't rely on ad dollars -- we rely on you

We wanted to make sure you didn't miss this update from In These Times editor & publisher, Joel Bleifuss:
----------ORIGINAL MESSAGE----------
From: Joel Bleifuss, In These Times
Subject: A quick update

It's been six weeks since the In These Times office closed and we shifted to remote work. Last Thursday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that our "stay at home" order will last at least until May 30. But we haven't slowed down.

The May 2020 issue of In These Times went to press on time, and we are wrapping up work on the June issue even as I write. Online, we've ramped up our daily coverage, and more people than ever are turning to InTheseTimes.com for the latest on this crisis, as well as how workers, activists and the progressive Left is responding.

The irony is that at the moment journalism is most needed, the journalism industry is suffering like never before. Over the past six weeks, more than 36,000 workers at U.S. news companies have been laid off, furloughed or had their pay reduced. Some publications have shut down altogether.

In These Times isn't immune to the economic reality journalism is now facing -- but we have a better chance of weathering this storm than most. The reason is simple: We don't rely on ad dollars -- we rely on you.

Reader donations contributions, not ads, keep In These Times publishing.

Our fate is very much in the hands of you and like-minded readers. We wouldn't have it any other way. You are our strength.

Will you make a donation today to help In These Times continue publishing?

The encouragement we've received from readers over the past six weeks has been phenomenal. It gives us hope for the future. But to continue doing this work -- and to ensure that In These Times is still there once this crisis has ended -- we need your support now.
In solidarity,

Joel Bleifuss
Editor & Publisher

P.S. We know that many of our readers have been financially strapped by this crisis. Whether or not you can pitch in today, we are grateful to have you as part of the In These Times community.
