Dr. Asantewa Sunni-Ali: "Seedz of Revolution" w/ Bonus Trailer

 

Dr. Asantewa Sunni-Ali is a scholar, educator, arts practitioner, and youth advocate. She currently serves as Director and Program Coordinator of the Fulani Youth Institute of Academics and Arts and Assistant Professor in the Department of Africana Studies at Kent State University. Her educational background includes an Associates in Applied Science in Theatre Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies, a Masters of Arts in African American Studies, and a PhD in Theatre for Youth. Dr. Sunni-Ali is the author of various publications and plays which explore her research interests: intersections of Black childhood, performance, agency, identity and liberation. In addition to writing her first book manuscript she is currently working on research and documentary series, Seedz of Revolution. As creator, producer and director of the multi-faceted project, Dr. Sunni-Ali manages the production logistics and works with research participants, creative talent, and production members to bring stories emerging from her research to life through photography and film. She endeavors to utilize Seedz as a platform to document and share cultural practices and revolutionary strategies as tools for constructing a liberated future for African descended and other marginalized populations.
