Stop Mass Warrantless Surveillance: End Section 702

Restore the Fourth Logo: Flag with black and red stripes and a blue square that says

Dear Friend,

The White House is pushing for renewal of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). It is an invasive and unconstitutional law the government uses to justify its mass surveillance of Americans' communications with people abroad.

Time and time again, federal officials and agencies prove that they cannot be trusted to wield such immense power. Declassified Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) opinions show that, despite internal reforms, the FBI abused Section 702 to illegally spy on a state senator, a U.S. senator, Black Lives Matter protesters, Jan 6. suspects, and victims of crimes, among many others.

Records indicate that in one year, there were 278,000 illicit uses of Section 702 by the FBI. These backdoor searches are dangerous weapons, and we should all fiercely oppose them.

Now, more than ever, is our time to fight back. Strong bipartisan consensus along with growing public dismay over surveillance should signal to the administration that FISA Section 702 needs serious and comprehensive reforms before it can be renewed.

We need to keep the pressure up - can you sign this petition to stop mass surveillance and rein in the surveillance state?
