Barack's Drone War

marital aid

From March 17th, that's Isaiah's The World Today Just Nuts "Marital Aid.As we were noting yesterday:

But if you're not getting how much damage Barack is doing worldwide and how much resentment he's causing towards the United States, the Press TV article to check out is "Terror drone kills 7 in northwestern Pakistan."  The Drone War so many in the US want to pretend isn't taking place?  Silence isn't how it's greeted around the world.  Hostility and hatred are being bred and its directly because of Barack's Drone War.

CBS and AP report that a Pakistan home was the target of a drone attack early this morning.  Press Trust of India explains, "The CIA-operated unmanned plane fired four missiles targeting the compound and the vehicle in Danday Darpakhel area in North Waziristan tribal region’s Miranshah on Tuesday night."  Pakistan's The News quotes eye witness Sharifullah Dawar stating, 'For some time, no one could go there to start rescue work as the drones were still flying over the area.  It was after the spy planes disappeared, the tribesmen began pulling out their bodies."    Mushtaq Yusufzai (NBC News) quotes eye witness Nasrullah Khan stating, "I never heard such a huge drone strike before. They simultaneously fired four huge missiles and jolted the entire town."  Kydo News International quotes a statement from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, "The government of Pakistan strongly condemns the US drone strike in Miransshah, North Waziristan on July 3.  Those strikes are a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.  Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized the importance of bringing an immediate end to drone strikes."  Saima Mohsin and Jethro Mullen (CNN) continue from the statement, quoting, "The Government of Pakistan has consistently maintained that drone strikes are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives and have human rights and humanitarian implications."  Reuters notes Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif "has called for an immediate end to U.S. drone strikes on the grounds that they are a breach of Pakistan's sovereignty."

Press TV reports, "Pakistani medics reported that the missiles have contaminated the environment with unknown chemicals. They said the chemicals cause skin, eye and respiratory diseases."

The facts and figures provided by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism note that there have been 370 drone strikes in Pakistan and 318 of those strikes were ordered by Barack Obama.  The resultes were as many as 3,549 deaths of which as many as 197 killed by the drones were children.

Meanwhile Paul Whitfield (Los Angeles Times) will never live down what some see as his mockery of Vietnam veterans -- we're dropping back six years for that and the outrage has not gone away.  So you'd think by now, he'd learn he's not funny and that his attempts at it are outrageous.  But Whitfield's too stupid to learn from his mistakes.  So he writes another unnecessary column (and it's so poorly written you wonder why he hasn't been fired already -- but firings are coming) where he finds 'mirth' in NSA whistle-blower Ed Snowden.  Ed's in "a pickle" which reminds him of a sandwich he shoved his mouth recently and Ed must be intimidated by the paper's paywall and blah, blah, blah.

No one wants to read his garbage.  His stupidity is glaring as he pimps his notion that Ed should go to Canada.  Here's something for the idiot Paul Whitfield to consider:

Robin Long
Kim Rivera
Chris Teske
Cliff Cornell
Daniel Sandate

Those are US citizens who thought they could find sanctuary in Canada, War Resisters who were forced out of the country and back to the US.

Here's another name:

Stephen Harper

Who is Harper?  The Prime Minister of Canada and a conservative.  He's refused to honor Canada's proud tradition of granting asylum for War Resisters and he's attempted repeatedly to curry favor with the US but Paul Whitfield wants to waste all of our time with his online erotica of Harper as a savior?

Mark Weisbrot (Guardain) notes:

The legal basis for political asylum is very strong, especially since the US has charged Snowden under the Espionage Act. Since it is pretty clear that there was no espionage involved here – no evidence that he collaborated or even met with any foreign governments – this is one obvious indicator that Snowden has a well-founded fear of persecution. And politically, despite efforts by much of the media to brand Snowden a criminal and a traitor, most of the world appears to sympathise with him. Any government that helps him would almost certainly have popular support at home.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation notes:.

Campaign to End NSA Warrantless Surveillance Surges Past 500,000 Signers

Over half a million people have signed onto the Stop Watching Us campaign, a nonpartisan, grassroots effort opposing the dragnet surveillance programs of the NSA. Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, also has added his support to the campaign and was joined by internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei. Add your name now.
On the Fourth of July, groups of concerned individuals will take to the streets in dozens of cities across the United States in support of the Fourth Amendment. The movement -- known as Restore the Fourth -- aims to end all forms of unconstitutional surveillance of digital communications by the United States government. Visit the website to learn more and find a protest in your area.
