Washington, D.C. (March 18, 2015) — President Barack Obama today announced two nominations for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). IAVA urges the Senate to move quickly in confirming LaVerne Horton Council for Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology, and Dr. David Shulkin, for Under Secretary for Health.

“IAVA implores the Senate to quickly confirm these nominees. There’s not a moment to waste in the effort to reform and right the VA,” said IAVA CEO and Founder Paul Rieckhoff. “We continue to believe that Secretary Bob McDonald is the right man to lead this reform but he can’t do it alone. As veterans, we support his efforts to identify and recruit top-tier talent to this difficult task. We applaud the President for making these nominations and look forward to working with these two leaders in promoting solutions that will help our vets.”
