The Mosul Slog day 264

Oh, look, disgraced Kurt Eichenwald, still trying to prove you can have a journalism career after THE NEW YORK TIMES fires you for unethical behavior.

It took a decade for the GOP to finally admit that the 2003 Iraq invasion was a historic blunder. I await their 2027 assessment of Trump.

Historic blunder?

I guess fat ass was too busy looking for more underage male porn stars online to follow Iraq too closely.

War Crime.

Not blunder.

War Crime.

Poor Kurt, he really has nothing to offer anyone.

Oh, The Debra Messings embrace him but that crazy embraces anything.

The rest of us?

We're like, "Is White skin the only thing that saved him from being Jayson Blair?"

Blair was around 26 when the paper fired him for ethical issues.

By contrast, Kurt was 46 when his ethical issues surfaced.

But, again, he's White.

Jayson Blair is drummed out of the business?

Blair, of course, was African-American.

#WHITEFATASSPRIVILEGE!

Today is day 264 of The Mosul Slog.

Again, day 264.

Stephen Kalin and Maher Chmaytelli (REUTERS) report:

Islamic State militants vowed to "fight to the death" in Mosul on Saturday as Iraqi military commanders said they would take full control of the city from the insurgents at any moment.
Dozens of Iraqi soldiers celebrated amid the rubble on the banks of the Tigris river without waiting for a formal victory declaration, some dancing to music blaring out from a truck and firing machineguns into the air, a Reuters correspondent said.

The mood was less festive, however, among some of the nearly one million Mosul residents displaced by months of combat, many of whom are living in camps outside the city with little respite from the blazing summer heat.

There are claims that Mosul is 'liberated.'  For example, DPA reports, "An elite force has 'liberated' the last three districts inside the Old City, a senior Iraqi commander said on Saturday."

None of the claims have been verified.

AP notes, "Iraq will imminently announce a final victory in the nearly nine-month offensive to retake Mosul from Islamic State, a US general said, as celebrations broke out among police forces in the city."

  1. IraqiTV station captured the moment before a female ISIS suicide bomber blew herself, w/child, up near Iraqi troops
  2. Think about this for a minute, ISIS sent this woman carrying a child with suicide bag, she detonated it among Iraqi forces, think about that
