I told the NY Times that “my principles don’t change with the job I’m in” and I think that’s proven to be true over the last 20 yrs. It hasn’t been a perfect career — but I’ve tried hard to live my values. Thanks to everyone for the support. Onward.
  • Bloomberg News today: "Sanders’ campaign SAYS some of Biden’s past statements SUGGEST the former vice president is open to cuts in Social Security." The media cannot bring itself to just say its true, even though it's LITERALLY ON TAPE 👇🏻
  • AP: Bernie made “the explosive charge that Biden was an outspoken proponent of slashing” Social Security. It’s not a “charge” or a claim or an assertion — it’s literally a fact. For the love of god, just watch the damn video 👇🏻
  • By the way, I've also heard that war is peace
  • Bernie, 1/26/95: "The balanced budget amendment will be a disaster (and) the destruction of the Social Security system" Biden, 5 days later on the same amendment: "When I argued we should freeze federal spending, I meant Social Security" Reporter: these are "much the same" 👇
  • Bernie: voted against every measure to cut Social Security, used word "adjustment" to push to expand Social Security benefits Biden: repeatedly voted to cut Social Security and publicly bragged about that in speeches on the Senate floor Reporter: these are "much the same"

Biden's use of "adjustments" to Social Security = -⬆️the retirement age -⬇️COLAs - means-testing benefits. Bernie's use of "adjustments" to Social Security = - ⬆️COLAs - ⬆️taxes on the wealthiest Americans - ⬆️benefits Same = The exact opposite.

Wait, so Democrats are calling for unity while is on the board of an organization that is going on air to attack the Democratic front-runner, while Begala also appears on CNN to do political punditry. What is this?
  • “Bernie once said the word ‘adjustment,’ which is equivalent to Biden spending 3 decades voting for and pushing initiatives to cut Social Security,” said literally nobody other than people desperate to erase history
  • I’m sure this is just a coincidence
  • We see a spasm of frantic & desperate attacks on . These attacks seem disparate, but what ties the various criticisms together is that they are all sponsored/amplified by zillionaires & corporations that want nothing to fundamentally change. That’s no coincidence.

Nearly a year ago, when Sirota was hired, The Atlantic published this exact kind of hit piece. The media establishment has run out of ideas. They're now going through their garbage to see what they can publish all over again.

I'm a Professor of Economics and Environmental Studies and proud signer and supporter of ' Green New Deal plan. We simply cannot wait. The climate crisis is here, and Bernie has shown that he understands the issues and will do what it takes to act immediately.
  • This attack didn't work in 2008, and it's not going to work now
  • “It is imperative that we address the deficit problem that this nation faces, but we can do it without cutting Social Security.” - Bernie Sanders, 1994
  • “Some claim that ‘entitlement reform’ is the answer to our government’s fiscal problems. They argue that we must cut back on entitlement programs like Medicare, Medicaid & Social Security to help balance the budget. I disagree.” - Bernie Sanders, 1993
  • The whole premise of this story is that Bernie one time uttered the word “adjustments” and that somehow negates his 30-year career of consistent votes, legislation & leadership blocking Social Security cuts and fighting to expand benefits. Just ridiculous.
  • The problem with this story: it somehow omits Bernie consistently leading the fight against Social Security cuts and consistently authoring/co-sponsoring bills to increase Social Security benefits. I mean, how does this just go unmentioned? Receipts:

Amid Social Security fight, Joe Biden is losing ground among middle-aged and older voters by and me
  • A Washington magazine just published Iraq War architect ’s article predicting “cluster bombs and napalm” against Bernie Sanders supporters, and promising that we will be “shredded and torched.” That’s not OK. At all.

Deeply disturbing to see both and the conservative writer use violent language describing both and all of the people on our campaign.

There's something discordant about the establishment alleging that Bernie is toxic...while the same establishment uses violent martial language to openly threaten Bernie's campaign and its supporters.
  • In the face of polls showing surging, the establishment is trying to lodge a formal complaint with democracy’s manager, and it’s not working.
