As lawmakers now consider the exact same idea during the #coronavirus emergency, it is important to remember this history the next time some pundit ignorantly insists does not have a record of accomplishment in Congress.

There are certainly ways to reassure America that we can have safe elections (for instance, universal vote by mail). But citing the 1918 flu that killed 675,000 people is not one of those ways.

Here is an idea, someone in Congress PLEASE take it & run with it: Congress should pass legislation providing waivers & federal reimbursement to state Medicaid programs that opt to expand coverage to cover all #coronavirus testing & treatment for all people, regardless of income.
I am introducing a bill this week to give: $1,000 to every American adult. $500 for every child. No exceptions. We need to support the American people NOW—and this is just a start.
