    The portrayal of the Russian characters in Creed 2 isn’t perfect, but has far more humanity/respect than the cartoonish & conspiracy-laden portrayal of Russians by our media/politicians. The filmmakers should get a lot of credit for avoiding the prevailing jingoism & Russophobia.

    Preferable to disingenuous elite sanctimony that Trump is somehow betraying US values by supporting the Saudi regime that every predecessor has supported. Speaking of elite, that's what defines "national" here -- whose "interests" does backing this regime actually "service"?
    Every president since Harry Truman has aligned with unsavory Middle Eastern rulers in the service of national interests. President Trump is just being unusually blunt about it.

    Far more shocking to me has been the total acquiescence of the Democratic Party leadership to a Trump-Russia conspiracy theory & the notion that bureaucrats/intel officials are our saviors, weakening an effective resistance to Trump-GOP's lies, corruption, and authoritarianism:
    8) The most shocking story in American politics these last two years is not Trump, it is the total acquiescence of the Republican Party to lies, corruption, and authoritarianism. Funded, of course, by unchecked dark money facilitated by the Citizens United decision.
