Iraq in limbo

Despite claims that Speaker of Parliament Osama al-Nujaifi wants to be President of Iraq, All Iraq News reports Muttahidon Alliance MP Jamal Qilani states no discussion has taken place yet and they are waiting for results of the election.  Salim Dalli is with Ayad Allawi's National Coalition.  NINA reports Dalli declared today that Nouri al-Maliki would not get a third term and that "there is a consensus among the National Coalition, Muttahidoon, Kurdistan, the Citizen [Coaltion, group led by Ammar al-Hakim] and the Ahrar blocs to form a government of national partnership includes all parties."  Ahrar is cleric and movement leader Moqtada al-Sadr's group.

Meanwhile All Iraq News reports that Allawi is calling for the IHEC to release the results quickly (to April 30th's parliamentary elections).  11 days after the elections and the scrambling continues.


National Iraqi News Agency reports a Baghdad suicide truck bomber took his own life and the lives of 8 soldiers and 4 civilians (sixteen more people injured), a Tikrit bombing left 3 people dead (two were Iraqi soldiers) and two more injured, 1 person was shot dead outside his Abu al-Khasib home, Joint Operations Command announced they killed 47 suspects in Falluja, 1 person was shot dead outside his Mosul home, 1 police member was shot dead in Mosul, an al-Husseiniya suicide car bomber took his own life and the life of 1 other person with ten more left injured, 1 police officer and his daughter were shot dead outside their Hammam al-Aleel home, an al-Mkeshifah attack left 1 police member dead and five more injured, 1 Iraqi soldier (on vacation) was shot dead in al-Tualeb, an Alhabash Village roadside bombing left 1 security force dead and three more injured, an Aldor roadside bombing left 3 Sahwa dead and two more injured, a Samarra roadside bombing left 3 military personnel dead and two more injured, a battle in Jurf al-Sakn left 5 rebels dead and 1 Iraqi military personnel dead, a Hilla roadside bombing left 1 Iraqi soldier dead and three more injured, the Ministry of the Interior announced an al-Meshahida suicide car bombing claimed the lives of 5 Iraqi soldiers, a Khanaqin roadside bombing left 1 Iraqi soldier dead,  49-year-old Colonel Iskandar al-Janabi was injured April 30ths in a Dibs bombing and he died from those injuries today, and the corpses of 11 taxi drivers were found dumped in Bazian.  In addition, Nouri's shelling of Falluja's residential neighborhoods killed 9 civilians and left thirteen more injured.
